Surprise!

So I'm back again. Unexpectedly. Where do I even start? My 4th baby was born in March, 2017, (which made five boys for my husband and I total) I had an IUD put in at my 6 week follow up and we thought he was going to be the last. Fast forward to this week. I went to the Dr on wed because I was having a lot of pain around my left kidney area and I thought I possibly had an infection. But when the nurse ran the typical urine tests, it came back positive for pregnancy! I nearly fell off the table when they told me! Lol I didn't even suspect it. They sent me for bloodwork that day and an ultrasound the next day because I had no idea when this happened. The place they sent me to was totally bullshit, and the tech incompetent, so my Dr did another one today in the office. To my complete shock and surprise, my IUD is GONE and there is definitely something there. Not only that, it really looks like there may be two! It's still really early, so that's good. I have time to prepare. I'm going back in 10 days for another US to see how things have progressed and to see if it's really more than one. My hcg levels were at 16,000 wed and they took more blood today to check progress. From what I've read, 16,000 is nearly double what's considered normal at this stage, even at the high end of the chart. More evidence supporting twins, my Dr says...
I'm terrified, shocked, happy all at once. It's too soon to tell yet how viable they are, since were just guessing at gestational age right now, but I'll know more for sure at the next appt in 10 days. If it's really twins, this will be baby 6 and 7! Wish me luck!

Comment from KenpobabyX6 » Posted Aug. 4, 2018 1:55am Thank you! I am indeed surprised! IUDs are supposed to be "foolproof" but I guess not... lol I'm feeling pretty stunned right now. It was surprising enough to be told i was pregnant, but two?? My youngest is 17 months. What the hell am I going to do?? Lol | |
Comment from ericalee » Posted Aug. 4, 2018 1:49am Oh my god!! What a surprise indeed!! I definitely see where the could be two sacs in your ultrasound photo. Congratulations?!! Can't wait to see an update. I'm currently 6.5wks with a birth control failure myself. Although we know for certain there is only ONE. ;) |
