Just need to vent

I'm currently 9w4d pregnant. I had yesterday off from work (I run a Family Home Daycare) and I felt like garbage, so it was awesome that no one needed me! I slept most of the day, woke up this morning with such a sore throat I can barely talk, and I still feel like I haven't slept in 2 weeks.
I get up and it's snowing- and giving a lot of snow through the day, with high winds, so they've cancelled school, so my 9 yr old is home for the day (which I get excited about, because I feel like shes growing up too fast so I like having the extra time with her).
I check Facebook, and I get a message from one of my daycare childrens grandmothers (who travels him) and she wants to know if I'm still open where its a snow day and everything has been cancelled. I tell her yes, I am (my children and I don't have to be on the terrible roads, so it doesn't matter to me). She says that she's going to call her daughter in law to see if she has school and get back to me. Half an hr later, she walks through the door, saying her Daughter In Law was still in bed, so they brought the baby out over terrible roads to drop him off.
I also watch a set of twins- their Mom doesn't work- she just wants time away from them (shes away from them more than what shes with them, but thats another story!). She brings them over terrible roads too, just to get rid of them. THEN walks in bragging about how she was sick yesterday and had a temperature of 102 degrees and felt like garbage all day. REALLY?? You're possibly still contagious, your kids could be carrying your germs too and you're still bringing your kids to get rid of them??
What is wrong with people these days??? Why even have kids if you're going to do shit like this?? There are so many kids around here that are just used for the pay checks (we live in Canada, so a low income mother gets 450.00 a month in "Child Tax Credit" (free money given by the government to help children stay out of poverty) and for the additional welfare money. It sickens me to think about the garbage that I've seen while caring for children (I've been doing this for 4 years now).
I know there isn't much I can do about it, but I just had to vent. I wish people had a switch that had to be turned on by a Doctor after they've been deemed fit to have children. I just can't imagine my kids ever being treated the way some other kids are! It's sickening.

I don't have that luxury, I work and take both my DD to their nanny's house, whom I adore, and even though I know she takes amazing care of them I get sad, you as the care taker get to spend more time with the kids than us, and for a mom who has to work and who truly cares about her kids that can be so sad at times. BUT like I said, i love my daycare, she is like family, and I am sure you grow close to the children you watch and they also love you. So very sad though that people are willing to drive on scary roads just to have time to themselves, I wouldn't. Kudos to you also for being a great care taker :) I can say I appreciate mine so very much! |
