23 weeks along and risk for premature labor

Everything has been going great with my pregnancy...until today. I was at work and started having contractions about 1pm. They were pretty regular coming every few minutes or so but were not painful at all (well one was painful where it took my breath away but the rest were just uncomfortable). I let the ladies that I work with know and they all told me I needed to call my doctor. Being stubborn, I didn't want to call anyone and figured they were just braxton hicks and would go away. I drank lots of water and just took it easy at work. About 3pm one of the ladies asked me how I was doing and I said I was still having them. They sent me home and told me to call my doctor. I took their advice and called only to be told that it was too early for me to be having contractions but they wanted me to come in and have a NST. When I got there they hooked me up to the monitor and left me to relax. The monitor was placed pretty high above my belly button and was not where I was feeling the tightness. After about 20 minutes the PA came in and looked and said nope, no contractions at all. She then started talking to me about round ligament pain and that that is what it probably is. I told her I was feeling the "contractions" lower on my tummy so she said just for kicks they would place the monitor lower and again, she left me to relax. She came back in a little later and looked at the paper and said huh, you are having regular contractions. I was like, I told you I was! Anyways, then she tore off the paper and said she was going to go show the doctor. Meanwhile people were coming in getting blood pressure, weight, urine, etc and then the doctor ordered an ultrasound to see how my cervix looked. Everything was great with the ultrasound and all the other tests they did. They sent me home on bedrest with a doctors note for work excusing me because of "increased risk of preterm labor". I am praying everything will be just fine and baby Owen will stay put for another 15 weeks. I am to do nothing but rest and drink lots of water over the weekend and go back in on Monday morning to see my doctor. It is 6:30pm here now and I am still having the contractions, just hoping they don't lead to anything more.

Yikes! My thoughts are with you for everything to go smoothly. The good news is that they caught it early and are taking everything seriously. Take care! <3
