Felt My Baby Move for the First Time
Did he drink a coke? A beer? Is he already celebrating with champagne? All I felt were strange bubbles just under my rib-cage almost all day long. I don't know if it was him or not... but something tells me he was having a party in there :)

Found Out Baby's Gender
These new tests are amazing. Not only did we find out the gender at 12 weeks, but we also had the whole battery of trisomy and chromosomal tests done early and non-invasively. It turns out our little boy will be perfectly healthy!

Heard Baby's Heartbeat for the First Time
I don't know how many beats per minute... but it was racing fast! Or was that mine?

First Ultrasound
Although I've been pregnant before (unsuccessfuly), I have never seen a living creature in my own uterus. Ok, so it wasn't yet visible to the naked eye, but all the other stuff was there.

This is so surreal.

First Prenatal Appointment
This was the same as the first ultrasound.

First Positive Pregnancy Test
No way! After almost a year of active trying, many years of hoping, the blocking of my right tube, my husband's infertility, all those supplements and BFN's... I thought there was no chance I could be pregnant.

I had just come back from a sun-laden trip to the desert while my husband is deployed. And I had heard that vitamin D was one of the main helpers of getting pregnant. The gynocologist was supposed to ring me that day to discuss options at the local fertility clinic. My period was 2 days late, which NEVER happens. And I thought "what the hell?"... I would rather be sure it was negative before the doctor rang. In any case, it hasn't worked up til now... there's no way it would have worked this time.

But lo and behold! Not one, but THREE BFP's! I simply couldn't believe my eyes.

I'm gonna be a mom!!

Told Husband/Partner
My husband is in Afghanistan so he wasn't there the morning I took the HPT. Memories of last year's BFP and his less-than-favourable reaction made me happy he wasn't there this time.

But since his return last year, he said he changed his mind about not having kids... that he was happy (but not excited?) to go on that journey with me.

Once I had the BFP's, I wasn't sure what to do. Should I tell him that day, or wait until he returned more than 2 weeks later? I would have normally waited... but he was busy researching and planning the wedding. I didn't want him to waste his time for a wedding that would now no longer happen in Feb 2014. So he had to know.

So here is the eCard I made him and sent. It took him a few minutes to get it, as his mind was on the wedding. Then he stuttered... and Skype went quiet. "Are you pregnant??".

When I told him yes, he at least sounded happy! What a relief :)
