About Me

My hubby and I started trying to conceive in 2010 while we were living in London (we lived there for eight years). We naively assumed that it wouldn't be too tricky and thought it might take a year or so to conceive, I was 26 at the time and he was 29. We eventually moved back to NZ to be closer to our families and to settle down a bit. Less than a year after we returned my hubby was called back to the UK for three months for work, so we delayed trying until after he returned. From that point on we had so much happen that it was put on the back-burner and we didn't push it (we didn't stop trying, just didn't focus on it or seek proper help). We decided to renew our vows the following February (2013), so we waited until after then. We then bought a house and moved. After that My hubby's mum was diagnosed with terminal pancreatic cancer (early 2014) and we lost her in a few months. Not long after this MY mum was diagnosed with breast cancer (early 2015), a week later my god mother was diagnosed with terminal cancer and my god father was diagnosed with skin cancer (three siblings - Mum, her sister and brother... cruel huh?!)! That was last year. We decided enough was enough, we couldn't keep waiting, we are getting older so we got a referral to a fertility specialist. In October last year we met with an awesome Dr who did an ultrasound and found a Polyp in my uterus straight away. On 9th December I had an operation to remove two polyps and some endometriosis they found during surgery. About 10 days later we conceived naturally!! We couldn't believe it, how was it possible to have it happen so quickly?! So here I am, pregnant, feeling pretty great and very excited to FINALLY give us what we've wanted for so long. :D

You have a very inspiring story. So happy for you that you conceived after all of that hardship.
