Placenta Encapsulation

Have you heard about this? No? Yes? Well I have heard nothing but rave reviews about this. There are many ways that you can consume the placenta, but I am still not there. Though encapsulation is perfect for me. I have been up and down about it since TTC. Recently my GF told me she did it, which helped my decision making. Don't ask me why but to actually know someone that did it, makes a huge difference to me.

The benefits to me, being a mother of four already am thinking that it would be perfect. I honestly think it would be perfect for anyone, as this is made for us by our own bodies! I would love the potential of not having a heavy bleed postpartum, having my own body made hormonal pill, have abundant energy, lower chances of PPD, have my uterus go back to normal quicker with the added bonus of a healthier uterus, oh and to top it all off better milk supply. Who wouldn't want to take a pill like this. Only that it is made from our bodies that makes it "socially weird".

I feel empowered by my decision to do this. I really do think this will be the best thing I could do for myself. I am very excited about it!!

I contacted a doula in my area and she informed me that I would have to have a court order to take the placenta from the hospital (might be different per state). She said the doula would help take care of that (retrieval, transport, and preparation) though. If I am able to find one in my area that will do that I am going to try (if I can afford it).

I am also wanting to do this so bad! My only thing is how do you ask your Dr to bring it home and what to bring it home in??? Are you guys doing yours at home or going through a service? I have a link on doing it at home, it is very detailed and helpful.

So far I have not heard anything bad about this or that it hasn't done anything for anyone, so this just makes me even more happy to here this. As I did also have a tuff time with my 2nd. I really don't want any big dips into the baby blues!!

Thank you for sharing this!! Just reinforcing my decision!!

I've researched it, and want to do it after this delivery. I experienced a rough hormone shift, low milk supply, and all the NOT fun stuff last time. A friend of mine did it after her 3rd child and she said it made a HUGE difference in her postpartum experience!
