Happy New Year!!!

A new year must always mean new resolutions. DH and I firmly intend to:

1. Exercise At Least 4 times a week. - Personally, I'd like to get at least a lengthy walk in every day.
2. Limit our intake of processed food. - This means the tasty premade pizzas from Costco will seldom be seen, lean cuisines will be a thing of the past, and I'll have to start getting up early to make real lunches. This FURTHER means that neither one of us will be eating out at work for lunch or dinner as often. Bah!
3. Check our blood sugar often - my mom had gestational diabetes and DH has a family history of diabetes.
4. Drink a least 8 glasses of water a day. - Easy-peasy - I'm already on glass 7 for today.
5. Juice fresh veggies/fruits at least once a week. Try to avoid the bananas and other sugar-laden fruits.

Sooo today...I stepped on the scale.

I knew I shouldn't, but there was a CECM calling my name and I had to seize a reality check where I could find it.

I hadn't checked my weight in close to a month. A month of holidays, mind you. And I'd already had breakfast. And SIX glasses of liquid. Even so, I was shocked!

I have gained nearly 10 pounds since conceiving??

It cannot be.

It was.

I proceeded to spend the remainder of the day denying myself luxuries. No more Triscuits, no more CECMs, and certainly no cheese! I took a walk - a nice, 45 minute walk. When I checked my weight again a couple hours later, I was only 8 pounds heavier than a month ago. A sliver of encouragement. We'll see how tomorrow goes.

The scale was depressing enough, but what really scares me is my first prenatal appt next week. I'm overweight, but not terribly so and not so much that it's noticeable beyond the hips.. The dense bone thing? A reality in my family - my mom has NO deterioration of bone at 65. This new development though makes me blush to consider the furrowed brow on the face of the nurse or doc who weighs me. I simply cannot be so close to the number I saw on the scale today by next week.

Ugh.

Okay, Daily Diet Log
Late Breakfast: I had scrambled eggs (2/3 eggwhites) with minced garlic and a dollop of yogurt for texture. 1 bottle of water, 1 CECM
Snack - 1 glass almond milk, 1 bottle of water
Exercised - 45 minute walk in the cold!
Dinner: Pho - made with lemongrass broth, a few pieces of brisket, some vermicelli noodles and some bean sprouts - which I mostly removed halfway through, having read that bean sprouts are to be avoided.
Snack - 3 ounces of almond bark (yes, I did cave just a little), 5 small pieces of dried apricot, a cup of mint medley tea, 1 bottle of water.

I have intended to record my diet daily, but keep forgetting - overall though, I've had an avocado and/or asparagus every day, have upped my fruit/veggie intake, and have kept close to 8 glasses of water a day. Oh, and yesterday I juiced for the first time in quite a while - broccoli, carrots, ginger, lime and apples.
