Baby may need a blood transfusion
By sassysacha » Posted Sep. 17, 2013 5:34pm - 242 views - 3 comments

Today at my 20 week scan everything looked well, and my little guy looked really cute. Then when they went to check to see if he is anemic, things didn't look very promising. Five times over they checked and it was all showing high levels. Then out of no where it looked completely normal. So I have to go back tomorrow to double check him to make she he is ok. I am very nervous about it. If we have to go we have to travel 5 hrs away, they will have to make baby sleepy then stick this long needle in my belly to feed him more hemoglobin.

I was hoping to avoid this completely even if I knew that there was a chance of it happening. It doesn't make it any easier.

KenpoMommy close but not completely. Rh- is a anti D aloimmunization. (or how ever you spell it) I have antibodies to other proteins in my blood. Much like someone would get if you had a transfusion. I have 5 of them and have 3 that could cause a problem with this pg.

Is this because of rh- issues? I'm rh- too and with my last baby, some blood tests I had showed we might have had to do the same thing, but it ended up being ok and we didn't have to. My son was born pretty jaundiced but it cleared up on its own. Crossing my fingers for you, I know what its like to worry about this!
