When you first find out your pregnant you have thousands of things going through your head and one of those is IM GOING TO GET STRETCH MARKS ! Many say if your mother got them than your likely to as well. Let's be real here every pregnancy is different and not all genes are passed on.
There are three factors that play a major roll in not getting them; moisturizing, proper weight gain, and exercise. Now it's time for me to share my experience so far.
Since I found out I didn't go rushing to the store for any body cream to excessively apply every evening but ordered myself Mama Mio body butter and oil. Yes they may seem pricey being $30-35 but they are worth it. Not only for prevention of stretch marks but it also gives you the time to embrace the beauty of your bump, massaging your bump benefits you fetus, the scent is soothing and will give you a wonderful memory.
The weight gain. Every women hates scales more so when they see the numbers climb higher and higher. We have to not only become comfortable with the weight gain and realize its for our new bundle of joy but do it smart. If you put on 3 pounds a week this will cause your stretch marks ! I started off gaining about .6 pounds a week in my first trimester, .6-1 pound in my second and in my third i have gained from 1 to 1.5 a week. I am following my guide line of 35 pounds though the average pregnant woman can expect to gain 40. I made a chart to guide me of the proper weight gain and have recorded it on here as well for you to take a look at.
Exercise ! This can be a very difficult time to exercise especially between spending hours sleeping, preparing for our new arrival, work, and the countless hours spent going to the bathroom. From my first trimester to my second trimester I always found time to walk a mile a day. Since my third trimester started I have switched to swimming in the pool for an hour. Yes this heat is awful ladies ! I found it very relaxing and have enjoyed feeling weightless in the water.
Taking these steps have prevented any sign of stretch marks and made me feel really wonderful about my pregnancy. I hope this may help you ladies as well.
