A healthy baby

Yesterday we had the ultrasound portion of our NT testing and we are pleased to annouce that our baby is low risk for Downs Syndrome and Trisomy! We have been shititng bricks for weeks agonizing over this. This is always something you worry about when you are 39, your risk just because of age is so much greater before testing.

People always ask whether we want a boy a girl and the answer is always "we just want a healthy baby."

As I enter my 2nd trimester in just a couple days, I reflect how incredibly lucky I have been so far to become pregnant naturally and to be blessed without morning sickness. The only monster is exhaustion. I hear you get your energy back in the 2nd trimester. I cannot wait.

On Monday, we were sadden by the loss of our first baby, Shrimpy. Our cat who has been litterally my baby for 14-1/2 years. The last year has been a roller coaster ride of sickness and leading up to the last months, it was as if I was caring for a baby. Feeding her from a syringe 4x a day, assisting her in peeing and pooping, giving her sub-Q everyday. She has prepared me for motherhood. We miss her so much because she was not just a cat but a very special soul who touched so many people's lives. I just am so sadden that Baby M will not get to meet her big sister but thankful that life brought me her. Mama loves and misses you pootie. xoxo

Aw I'm so sorry to hear about your cat - the loss of a pet is never easy, they are a part of your family! So happy for you that the test came back with low risk! That's wonderful news! :)

Ugh! I haven't had any nose bleeds, thankfully. But, I could do without the nausea and gagging. I'll be glad when it passes, IF it passes before baby comes! Ha! We are actually booked to go to the beach about a month and a half after the baby is suppose to come with DH's parents. I'm not sure how that's going to work out! Lol! We will see. We always book a year ahead because the condo we rent gets booked so quick, and before we knew we were pregnant! Ha!

I know girl, I'm counting down the days. I read that you should plan a trip during your second trimester because you get all your energy back and by the 3rd and so forth you are back to being uncomfortable again and then the baby is here forget about long trips then! hahah. Thats funny you mentioned acne, one of my GFs, she said that was her one clue she was pregnant b/c her face broke out! I haven't gotten that, thankfully but my nose bleeds like everyday :( it really sucks.

As of right now, hormonal zits seem to be taking over my face! I have some nausea, mainly when I brush my teeth and gag a little. My gag reflex is through the roof since I've been pregnant. Other than that, not too shabby. I'm excited to be almost out of the 1st trimester. Just another week! :)

Thanks Amanda, it's been hard but the baby has been a good distraction. How have you been doing? How's the first tri treating you?

Yay for low risk! :)

It's so sad losing a pet. They don't really seem like pets when you've had them for so long, they become a member of the family. I hope you can find joy in the time you got to spend with her the past 14 years, and look forward to the joy that is coming so soon! :)
