20 Week Gender & Anatomy Scan
By *Baby*No4*On*Way* » Posted May. 8, 2014 12:43pm - 371 views - 8 comments

Today we had our long awaited scan! I have been excited and on edge for weeks now, as I made a pact with my husband that we wouldn't buy anything for the baby until we found out the sex first. It has been so so hard, but I have been keeping myself occupied by working out and planning what I wanted to get for baby, plus save up really hard for the items I really really wanted (a £250 pram/pushchair I've had my eye on lol)
Anyway, I am pleased to announce that we are expecting a baby BOY! It is the news we were hoping for as we have 2 girls and a boy already. Now we are evened out lol
I was so emotional too, I just couldn't stop crying. I felt like I right idiot with tears streaming down my face. I kept telling myself, you were right all along lol I knew baby would be a boy, I just had a feeling.
On a little down now, as the sonographer found an abnormality with baby. The scan showed he had a club foot on the left. I am now booked in to see a specialist next Wednesday morning, to do another scan and a have a more detailed chat about what will happen when our son is born.
I read up on club foot and was told by the Midwife Co Ordinator that the condition can be treated easily and baby will likely be in a cast when it is born. I now think I'm a high risk pregnancy because of this abnormality, but it will be ok. We have been reassured our baby is completely healthy, other than his left foot.
For now, we are trying to stay as positive as can be. I'm a bit worried about my birth plan now and have now clue how my labour will be. Hopefully everything will go smoothly! Fx :)

Congrats :) I run a family home daycare, and have a brother and sister from the same family who both were born with club foot (he had it in both of his feet and was A LOT more severe than the sisters). They usually try and correct them with casts. Those kids have always been the happiest kids I've ever had the pleasure of caring for! They never let their casts slow them down at all!
We also have a daughter and a son, and now are expecting b/g twins this summer! I was super excited because they each get to say they have (at least) one brother and one sister!

I understand the shock. It's unnerving to know that there is something wrong with your baby, but I found that by doing my research on clubfoot and learning about the different treatment options, I felt more in control of the situation. Also, knowing that cf is completely treatable is a HUGE comfort.

My son was diagnosed with bilateral clubfoot in utero as well. There is an awesome page on facebook for support and info about clubfoot, if you are interested. It's called Clubfoot Journey. I'm high risk for reasons other than the clubfoot, but if you have any questions or just want to chat, feel free to message me. :)

And congrats on your baby boy!
