28 Weeks 2 Days - Still Measuring 'Large'
By *Baby*No4*On*Way* » Posted Jul. 1, 2014 4:37pm - 310 views - 4 comments

Today I had my 28 week appointment with my midwife. Everything is fine, except I'm measuring a bit large for dates!
At 26 wks 6 days, I measured 32cm but midwife at hospital wrote it down as 30cm, so have to go by what's written down.
Today I measured 33cm, that's a whole 5 weeks ahead!!
This has never happened with my last 3 pregnancies/children so it's a bit weird for me lol I was always measuring on schedule before, mmmmm not sure what to think right now!
As I'm measuring 'large' my midwife wants me to go for a Growth Scan tomorrow morning, to check whether our little boy has too much fluid or if he is going to be a large baby.
I really hope it's just fluid, as I don't want a big baby. My 3 children were 6lb 6oz, 6lb 4oz and 7lb 10oz. They are all lovely weights for a newborn baby.
Apart from the MASSIVE growth spurt from me, everything is going well.
My blood pressure is normal and so is my urine. Baby's heartbeat was 144bpm :)
Alfie is very active nowadays, kicking my ribs a lot :(
I've been getting more and more tired each day and have to keep taking naps. My appetite is starting to decrease too, I don't know why. I'm just not all that hungry at the moment.
I have a lot of Braxtons during the day, so I know my body is trying to get ready and I'm not surprised with a size 33 week bump instead of 28! Luckily Alfie is in the transverse lie (sideways) so no possibility of his head going down in my pelvis. That's the last thing I need right now lol
I'm looking forward to Friday, as it's my hubby's birthday and we are going out for a meal, just us, no kiddies :) We haven't been out for months and months so we can't wait to reconnect again :)
Plus in 27 days we are all going on holiday for 2 weeks, the kids are so excited and I get to see my sister who had a baby girl last Thursday. She was 12 weeks ahead of me and it kinda sucks that I'm still pregnant and she's not!
I would rather Alfie cook a bit longer inside my tummy, just don't get to big little man. We shall find out tomorrow.
Feeling excited and worried, but everything will be fine, I hope!

Wow, thank you so much for all your comments. I was freaking out this morning, but the scan went well. They couldn't get a head circumference as he is in the Cephalic position (head down) but not engaged, which is ok with me lol Our baby's tummy is a little large and he's weight this week was estimated at 2lbs 14oz, nearly 3lbs already! I was quite shocked by this. Also I am between normal and high levels of amniotic fluid, the sonographer said I was just borderline between the two. The consultant didn't seem too concerned at the moment and wants to see me again at 34 weeks. Will have to wait and see till then. For now everything is going well, apart from feeling huge like a whale lol

My son was born at 39w3d and was measuring at 45w. He was 9lbs3oz, 22.5'' long. He wasn't that chubby, because he was so long. Maybe your baby is long too?
Or maybe your midwife is off too? I know where I go it's a prenatal clinic and you see 5 different doctors. 4/5 doctors were measuring about the same, and the 5th doctor measured him as being small!

Big babies aren't scary they actually say they are easier to push out due to the muscles being able to reach them better (or so I've been told lol). My first was 9lb and I'm a tiny little thing but didn't have an issue and when it came to pushing he was out in no time, the growth predictions at the hospital said I'll have another 9lb er this time. as long as we don't go over 10lb I'm not going to panic.

Is it possible that your dates are off and you are further along? That far ahead you'd think they would change your due date. The scan is a good idea because if baby is measuring ahead they may end up changing your date. I pray is not the fluid levels either. I am dealing with that only in the reverse, baby had had low fluid and measuring small so hope for better news for you!
