Mini Countdowns
By prinder » Posted Jun. 11, 2014 4:56am - 261 views - 1 comment

I think the only way that I'll survive, given how impatient I am naturally, being pregnant is by giving myself mini countdowns to key events instead of looking at the approx. 7 months to go. It's just easier for me to focus on the more pressing issues than to fixate on the ones that won't be happening for some time yet.

That said, I'll be meeting with the Midwife this Friday (yes the 13th... no I'm not superstitious, why do you ask?). I'm not exactly sure what to expect, to be honest, beyond them taking some blood, some urine and maybe getting the chance to ask some questions. I'm not sure if there will be a scan involved or not - I assume yes, but it won't be at the hospital so I'm not sure? It doesn't seem as likely, unless they just so happen to have the equipment on hand... which is doubtful, given that midwife is not at the same clinic every single day - if she was, we would have stood a better chance at scheduling something that actually coincides with DH's days off, but anyway...

I'll be finding out in a couple of days no matter what, so I'll have that to report. At least the nausea has given me a day off... so far, so good, at least. Though that gagging thing when I'm taking the prenatal vitamins is starting to get on my nerves. There is no reason why I should be so sensitive - before pregnancy, I could take several vitamins of equal or greater size in one swig of water - so I know for a fact that there is nothing physically stopping me, and yet the Sprout will only see it happen if I gag them down.

The stink-rat is sadistic, I tell you. I can't decide which one of us it gets it from. Probably me.

I can't decide who to believe in terms of size of the bugger: some places reckon that it's the size of a green grape, others say the size of a strawberry. I kind of like the grape idea better, it's more uniform than the strawberries I've seen. Aside from that, my uterus has apparently doubled from the size it was before I was pregnant to something the size of a small mellon/large grapefruit. No small wonder that I feel like I'm bloated.

I have the same issue with the gagging, I can't take vitamins at all so I spoke to my midwife unit and they suggested a Dlux Pregnancy spray. It's okayed by the NHS it has the essentials such as folic acid and Vitamin D plus others. It tastes like peppermint and you spray it under you tongue 5 times a day. I bought mine of Amazon for £7 and it arrived the next day. I'm so glad I found it but wish I found it before.
