Out to lunch (literally)

About a month ago I was craving pho, but my husband hates it, so I ate different kinds of soup and was satisfied for awhile. Today DH was out all morning exercising. I'm really glad he's trying to get healthy, but I was alone with DS getting a bit of cabin fever. When he came back, he offered to let me go out to buy a bracelet charm for my niece's birthday celebration next weekend. I'm taking advantage of my time and eating spring rolls and tofu pho by myself. I feel so indulgent and alone. Anyway, delicious food, missing company, but happy to be here. Checking CTP and CMP constantly, because I can! I'm trying to remember this time before baby #2 comes, and enjoy my relative freedom. I feel like being a mom limits what activities I can do all the time. Gotta be more adamant about finding and doing "me time." Mmm. Can't eat all of this. Spring rolls to go!

I have all sorts of excuses for why I don't hang out with friends often enough. LOL! The mom's at daycare, for instance, I only see for a few minutes once or twice a week, if we happen to be dropping off or picking up at the same time. Also, my son's daycare is 20 miles from home (near my work). I do know some moms work and at church... Birthdays are a good excuse, but not regular enough to count as playdate. Finally, I have a school friend who lives nearby. We see each other a few times a year. Sigh. Not enough. She and I are trying to arrange a get together this week. Yay! She has a 2 year old girl and is due to have her 2nd baby (a boy) very soon. Already getting contractions tonight. Hopefully we get to hang out before she has the baby. :D

What about mothers @ your son's daycare (if he goes to one)? My friends with kids made some new mom friends that way. They also made friends with the other moms @ their older children's school's extracurricular activities (soccer, etc). One of my sisters have mom friends from church. Then there is always weekend church activities or evening bible studies. I know how you feel, most of my friends live far away & almost all have kids. I just hang out with my friends when I can, even if it sometimes means hanging out with their sweet kids, too!

I need more mom friends, I guess. I just don't do mommy groups. Kind of jealous of things like MOPs. Being a working mom means I can't join. I have a couple girlfriends, but my close college friends, for instance, and I have drifted apart or live far away.

Yum! Sounds like you had a delicious time! I'm glad you're dh recognizes you need sine alone time. I've always thought when I had kids my friends & I would take turns rotating free baby-sitting by our dhs & have a girls /brunch night out. Maybe try that :D.
