25 weeks & weight gain
By Kate0406 » Posted Oct. 22, 2015 8:49pm - 228 views - 3 comments

I feel like my weight gain is out of control. this last week I've gained like 2 1/2 pounds. I'm doing that every month. Like last month I've gained 5 pounds. I'm already on the over weight side however, I'm along the same weight gain as I did with my son Jack. So i'm matching up exactly week by week as far as weight gain goes with my last pregnancy. BUT i'm feeling extra big this time around and everytime I jump on the scale I cringe. I stopped with the sweets.. I bought a bunch of fruit so that when I have cravings I eat fruit now instead. we shall see If I can stop the weight gain or lose 2 pounds. I'm only aloud to gain 20 pounds this whole pregnancy. I think I'm almost there and I'm only 25 weeks. I'm also afraid because I've got to keep my weight at a minimum so that i can have a successful Vbac. my first pregnancy i gained so much weight I think i hampered my body's ability to get through the laboring process.

I gain weight fast anyway because of my insulin resistance and because of my PCOS. My body does not process sugar like a regular body does so it all packs on and turns to fat. So my body constantly craves sugar because my body does not metabolize it. So of course when i step on the scale and see i've gained 2 pounds or so in a week it puts me in a sour mood. I hope I can get a grip on this now with my diet change. ;(

Same thing as Tashagraham said. I'm borderline GD so I consulted a dietician. Was basically told a fruit as TONS of sugar. I was eating apples like they were going out of style until I found out that they are our 2 1/2 out of the 4 "choices" I'm allowed for a mean. Since I started the dieticians plan, I've lost 3 lbs so it might be worth looking into. Personally, I don't even use the scale at home because I don't need that extra stress, lol. I just look at the doctors office.

Have you consulted with a dietician? I spoke to one because I have borderline GD and I also have galbladder disease so eating is really hard for me. Fruits have a TON of sugar in them as well so that may not be a great source of sugar when you have a craving. Go more for the sugarfree snacks with less calories, like sugarfree applesauce. I am 29 weeks and have put on only 6 lbs this pregnancy because of my extra strict diet. I lost 25 to begin with. So I am still 19 lbs under what i was when i started. I also like cinnamon raisin toast with sugarfree apple butter. They both are pretty low in the fat and sugar categories. Just somd helpful hints. I also drink a glass of water before each meal that way I feel fuller during meal time and eat less. Good luck to you and I hope you get uour successful Vbac.
