Arrival of my BABY GIRL POPPY ROSE on 6th May 2017

Its been a long time since my last journal entry its been a whirlwind but my little girl arrived on the 6th May 2017 weighing 7lb 1oz!!

She's actually now 6 months old!!!! Where that time has disappeared to I don't know but I will share my birth story.

I'd been up to the hospital numerous amounts of times for reduced movements, everything looked fine each time but they gave me an appointment with the consultant regardless. I went in to see him and he said if you have another episode of reduced movements we will induce you. Needless to say she was being a little monkey and when I was 39+4 weeks she went all quiet again so up the hospital I went.

I was put on a monitor which again seemed fine but they went by what the consultant said and decided to examine me to see whether an induction was viable, as it happens they said my cervix seemed favourable and they said they will find me a side room and induce me with Prostin. We were waiting a fair few hours for a room and we finally got one. The midwife put me on the monitor for a little while then came in with the pessary, she examined me again and said actually we don't need the Prostin you're actually 3cm dilated!! I was in shock as I'd no pain at all. She said I'll leave you a little while longer and we will break your waters and get the show on the road.

As I was in for reduced movements they said I'd have to be monitored throughout labour and birth so was unable to have the water birth I wanted :( I was gutted. Anyway they took me through to the labour suite and at this point I was 4cm dilated so she was able to pop my waters there and then this was 11:09pm. Quickly after contractions started coming quite fast, I sat on a ball and had gas and air to help me through, I was offered diamorphine but refused as I was coping well, I then got to a point where I realised I wanted to push soon so got on the bed and started to push but daughter was born within 10 mins, 58 minutes since my waters were broken.

She was absolutely perfect and has grown to be a noisy, cheeky girl I loved every minute of my labour and birth and would love to do it all again.
