Yes, definatley try cutting back and then quit. If you are lucky, the smell alone will start to make you sick and it will get easier. I quit smoking about a month before I got pregnant with my first, but was still fighting cravings. I found out I was pregnant at 8 weeks and the smell, thought, or even seeing a cigarette made me want to vomit so that made it much easier. Of course we don't need to tell you it is better for you and baby to quit all together....I know how hard it is. Keep trying.

Hi, Im 15 weeks. My doctor told me the exact same thing. Told me that to cut back and try and quit. As if I cut them out straight away i would be anxious and stressed out with the nicotine withdrawal can cause restless sleep and bad mood swings. And that is not good for your baby either.Ive cut done from ten maybe twenty a day to maybe three a week. The trick to it is, if you feel like you want a smoke, just keep asking yourself do you really want one when the erge gets to much have one. before you know it you will be off them. I guessing this week will be my last week smoking as I dont really crave them anymore. Best of luck and congradulations :)

I would suggest cutting back, then try and quit.

I cut down the week after I found out I was pregnant and then quit altogether, Surprisingly easier than I thought.

Just try cutting back and see where you are from there. See how you feel.

It you feel like you want to smoke a cigarette, don't stress about it just have one. There will come a time probably after cutting back that you will want to quit!

Good Luck!!!

I quit smoking around 6 weeks cold turkey most likely because I had bad morning sickness. I am now 6 weeks post partum and no cigarettes yet. I agree with the person before me. If you can't quit, focus on cutting down.

I have heard this. Whether its true or not I don't know, but I do know that each cigarette you skip is better for you and the baby. So if quitting isn't quite working out, try to focus more on cutting back so that maybe at some point you can quit. Trying and failing is better than not trying at all! Good luck!
