Q: Marijuana & Pregnancy

I went for my first prenatal appointment, and for whatever reason they did a drug panel with my blood work. I smoked marijuana one time about 6 weeks ago (the day before I found out i was pregnant) I am now 9 weeks and 1 day pregnant. I tested positive for marijuana...I know my baby will be ok because it was only one time, my question is will they test me every single time I go to an OB appt? I mean it's fine if they do, I just don't like being treated like a "Drug addict" they even put in my notes that I'm a "Cannabis addict" I am so furious

Well, out of curiosity, I looked online & found out that in some states (not sure how many), there is a law that states drs can screen a woman for substances that may cause harm to the fetus. This, of course, includes drugs. I figured that it was a state law of some type. Drs wouldn't be screening woman after woman without her knowledge unless they could legally do so. Now, whether it is "right" or not, well that's a whole different story.

I definitely never drug tested anyone without consent, I wasn't allowed to test for anything without consent unless court ordered

I smoked a little marijuana to help my nausea my entire pregnancy & my doctor didn't say a thing about it being in my system. They don't care about marijuana since many moms use it as a substitute to anti nausea pills. It also has no effect to the fetus so they have nothing to be concerned about.
