Q: Is it normal to not gain much this far?

Well I started off overweight to being with, i lost a few pounds due to morning sickness. I started off at 177...I finally gained 3 pounds at 180. Then after a few days or so I weighed again and im back down at 178 and Im 22w4d. I thought I was supposed to be gaining a pound a week this far, but Im only up 1 pound this far. My doc doesnt seen to say anything about my weight but is this normal for overweight people or not?

I am overweight and 40 weeks and 1 day and only have gained a net 18 lbs, my whole pregnancy (actually lost weight due to morning sickness first trimester). As long as your doc is ok with your weight gain, I would not worry.

Actually, they recommend that we don't gain an excessive amount of weight. I'm obese, so I have to try to keep my weight gain to between 11-20 pounds. Of course, I promised myself I wouldn't get too upset if I go over that (but I'm just trying to eat healthier things). I gained 2 in the first trimester, and I'm up 7 more this trimester (but my bump has seemed to literally appear overnight!) so that's 9 total and I'm almost 21 w 6 days.

As long as you are eating enough and taking your vitamins (and your doctor isn't concerned)....I'd say there isn't anything to worry about. Everyone is different and I've heard of lots of women losing weight due to morning sickness. I think as you continue to get further along (and that baby gets bigger) you'll notice more gain. Good luck!

I'm not sure your height and weight and goal gain for this pregnancy, but if your doctor isn't worried about it, I wouldn't worry too much about it! As long as your baby is measuring correctly (and from 20 weeks on they can tell just by measuring your belly/uterus) then I wouldn't worry too much! i never had morning sickness so I never lost weight, but I've heard a lot of women that have. Most of my weight gain came in the 2nd part of the pregnancy anyways. Also they say to ignore the actual 1 lb/week, and that it should just be an average throughout the pregnancy because our bodies will go up or plateau or go down at different points.

i've gained the minimum that my doctor suggested, but not intentionally, I felt like I was eating to gain even more, but I guess my body didn't want to store it all! Every pregnancy and woman is different. Enjoy the rest of your pregnancy! Hope the morning sickenss is gone for good!

I was overweight with my first. The Doctor told me, as long as the ultrasounds were showing that the baby was growing, as well as my belly was growing, that he didn't seem to mind about my weight...as long as the baby was growing everything would be fine :)
