Q: What are some unique "Grandma" alternatives?

Okay, so my sister's kids call my mom "Nanna," so I want my kids to call her that too. This will be my mother-in-law's first grandchild, but she doesn't want to be called "Grandma." I can't see her being called that either, because she looks and acts pretty young. I can't think of anything that doesn't either sound old or redneck lol...MeeMaw...Mammie...Mammal....none of those really fit her lol. Any ideas?

I really like GiGi! Don't know if she will, though...I'll probably end up letting her decide...who knows....she may have changed her mind about being called "Grandma" now that it's not just hypothetical ;)

In my generation the first grand kid usually ended up "coming up" with the name when trying to say "grandma" and the younger kids just went with it. We had a mamaw (maternal) and a meemaw (paternal).

My MIL chose her own title when I married her son so my nine year old would know what to call her. She picked "Nana." My mom also picked her own for my son when he was coming, she picked "Granny." I would say just let her pick if she is particular. If she wanted to be a Nana too your kid can always have "Nana X" and "Nana Y" with the last names, that is what my husband calls his grandmothers (they have a thing for Nana on that side of the family lol).
