Q: Any tips on keeping up with housework?

I feel really bad that the only thing that I really do to contribute it housework and I have been slacking ALOT. I just feel so sick lately. I can't move around to much without getting green.

Any tips on how to keep up with it. My DF does a deep cleaning on the weekends - as we speak - and my 6 yr old tries but hes just a kid. Someone please give me some tips! Thanks!

Thank you guys! Lots of great advice. My mom wants me to hire someone also but I'd feel so weird being in the house while shes cleaning. I feel like she will think I am lazy! Oh well, I can live with it lol.

I also tried doing one thing at a time. I vacuumed yesterday! It was a big deal. DF told me to stop and lay down though :P

Thanks everyone. All very helpful!

Very lazy I know but my DH and I have hired a cleaner to come in once a week. She is wonderful and I couldnt be without her. She does all the cleaning coz the smells of the cleaners was making me sick and both DH and I work full time. I then just do the usual tidying up. Ive been able to relax (coz DH will push the hoover round if I ask him. Apparently he doesnt see what needs doing LOL). Its stopped me getting so stressed with him.

I had this problem too when I was in the first tri. You are just so exhausted all you want to do is sleep, and if you aren't exhausted you are feeling sick. My house looked terrible :( I agree with Klara, you may just have to learn to live with things a bit messier than normal. Try to do one chore a day, even if it's something small, just so you don't feel like a total slacker. Your kiddo is old enough to maybe do some chores with directions.. they might not get done perfectly but realize that you will feel better soon enough! Remember when your baby is a newborn things will be nuts again so just go with it as best you can.

It's really tough to get a lot done when you feel like crap. Why not try to make yourself feel better about the things you can do around the house? I would suggest making a list of chores you feel well enough to do daily, then crossing them off when they're done to have a sense of accomplishment and feel like you're contributing. For example, even if you're feeling crummy, you could probably sort the mail, wipe down the kitchen counters and table before and after meals, wipe down the bathroom counter, make the bed, do a bit of dusting, or other little tasks that don't take too much energy but help to keep the house looking tidy. I am a neat freak and am slacking a bit - okay, a lot - right now, and DH is picking up a lot of the slack, thank goodness, although he has a different idea of clean than I do! I have, however, realized that until my energy levels come back up, I am going to need to learn to live with a few more dust bunnies than I'd like! :/ I hope this helps. <3
