your emotions are justified... that would drive my bonkers. Keep the name though, you little girl will love that she has the same as the dog. And, when it starts to bother her in her teenage years, the dog will probably die. Done and Done!

Your child will live much longer than the dog will, stick to your guns and name your daughter what you want. We've gotten a lot of crap from dh's parents about our name choice and have chosen to just ignore them. It's your baby do what makes you happy!

I would be pretty annoyed too hun so your reaction is totally understandable! I think ruby is a beautiful name for your little girl so like the previous poster said, tell him to knock it off. If the reason was because he doesn't like the name for his grandchild then you make sure he knows that its not his choice, its your baby girl. Good luck x

That's just rude! My guess is that he didn't like that name for his grandchild but didn't have the heart to tell you. So he made it so that you couldn't use that name anymore. That's my guess because otherwise he has the worst memory ever and I don't believe that. Tell him to knock it off and change the puppy's name.

How weird! Has he done stuff like this in the past? Does he have a bad memory and forgot that you were naming your child Ruby? I would be really annoyed by this, sorry!
