Q: Pregnant with PICA?
I have once again been diagnosed with PICA. Ive had it with all three of my pregnancies (counting this 1). I crave cotton balls and Ive always have. I do not swallow them, but I love the taste and texture, so I just chew on them. I spoke with my OB and she says cotton is a plant, and as long as I chew "100% Organic Cotton" I should be fine. Organic cotton has no pesticides, insecticides, chlorine, bleach or any other harmful chemicals, but I'm still a little paranoid about any part of the cotton being harmful to my baby. It has nothing to do with lack of iron, its psychological meaning I only crave it when I'm under stress, and it helps calm me. This is something that I cannot control, I can go days with out, but after a while, I can no longer fight the urge. I'm not looking to be criticized nor judged, I just want to know is there any other ladies out there with this eating disorder, and how do you cope with it? How do you fight your cravings or urges? This question was asked Dec. 21, 2011 11:08pm
