I'm older, so I do every non-invasive test I can get my hands on.

But even if I wasn't, I'd still do the NT scan at 12 weeks - if only for the fact that it's a very detailed ultrasound of baby, takes about 45 minutes. That's 45 minutes of getting to look at every single little bit of your baby - little fingers, little toes ... it's amazing.

We did. We like being informed and prepared; it's not right to imply people who opt for screening want to abort less than perfect babies. That is really ignorant and judgmental. First of all, it's harmless and you get to see your baby. It's the first time they really look human! Second, if something were wrong you can prepare either for a possible stillbirth or complications after birth. It is recommended all women do this screening. Knowledge is power.

I honestly don't think it's worth it. Most of the time the tests are wrong. People who normally want the tests done are willing to abort. But you'll love your baby no matter what. It's really what you want.

I talked for a long time with my specialist on this and he told me that should I have a child with issues my pregnancy would need to be treated differently as well as being more monitored during the labor process. I more did it just to make sure we didn't need special monitoring past that point. Good luck!

I did the test. Not because if there was something wrong to abort it, because if there was something wrong I wanted to be ready and well educated in helping my baby as much as possible. Turned out my baby had trisomy 18. And I tell u wat I'm thanking that test because she past away at 33 weeks..... But I was prepared for that outcome. If I hadn't been I wld be a complete mess. It's a very personal choice but I'm so glad I did it. It gave me the opportunity to make as many memories as possibl y I could. And at least I knew what was going on in my pregnancy!!

Thank you ladies!!! I think I may just do it because I also want to be educated and would like to have an idea of if we will have a special needs child. I am on the fence about returning to work after the baby arrives. It is just an ultrasound and blood test so it won't be any harm done!

I LOVED the fingers and toes! That was one of the best parts. Mine was about 10 minutes, though. Because the fluid was so thin and the heart was strong she didn't have much to play around with. She was also really, really good so that made her fast. Still, it was 10 minutes of sheer joy.

Anything that doesn't risk the pregnancy/baby, like and ultrasound, I'd do it. Just like what momlove said, if there's something wrong I'd want to be educated or at least be prepared if it is possible that something is wrong, like downs syndrome.

I did this test! The way I think about it is that if their is something wrong with my baby I want to be educated! If u get that early screening and find out there is something wrong you have plenty of time to soak up a ton of knowledge. I would never abort a baby, I think the test is a good idea!
