Gestational diabetes is a different beast than type 2. I was nervous, too, even though I had no reason to be and my blood sugar was 79 after the one hour test. Even I couldn't believe I had done that well. If you are eating well and exercising and gaining weight as healthily as you can then you really shouldn't stress to much! It will be over and done with before you know it.

Sorry that should read. No fruit (not drug) or juices in the morning.
Also to eat very often. They were i distant on a mid morning snack a mid afternoon snack and a nighttime snack. Eating six times a day keeps your sugars levelled off instead of spiking at meal times and running low in between. I found it a lot easier on my squashed up tummy too :)

I was told I had GD also in this pregnancy (didn't have the first one... And I gained 20 lbs too much the first one and right on track for weight gain this one). They gave me a blood picker and reader at the hospital and a meeting with a dietician (who told me not to change my eating habits much cause I wasn't eatig enough). For weeks my readings were great (maybe one or two bad readings out of four a day for 5 weeks is nothing as the. Nurses told me). Big important thing. No drug or juices first thing in the morning and no cereal with milk (apparently bad combination for diabetes. Also at 36 weeks your uterus stops growing and IF your readings are still good by then there should be no issues onwards. My baby measures right on average (my first was a girls and small 6lbs 7oz and I was huge). This one is a boy and he should be close to 8 per my last ultrasound.
If your readings are in line there should be no real adverse effects on the baby is what I was told. Good luck!

I had a very large baby my first time around & my blood sugar was perfect the whole pregnancy. Just bc the baby is big doesn't mean you are at higher risk for gd. Try not & stress! Gl!

There's a big history of diabetes in my family (my dad and all four grandparents) and I didn't get it in my first pregnancy. Don't worry too much about it. Hope everything works out:)
