Q: Baby movements at 25 weeks

How often should I feel my baby move at 25 weeks? (first baby) Please can you share your experiences? Some days the baby is really very active and movements are constant, but other days, I hardly feel anything at all. My midwife said that I should be concerned if I don't feel anything for two hours - but I thought this was after 28/30 weeks? I am now very confused and worried all at the same time.

Hi im 26 weeks today and my lil girl rarely moves during the day and typically wakes up around 11pmish. Scares me but I know this is a normal pattern for her (more than likely I will have fun around this time when she is born haha). Personally I think its too early to worry about the every 2 hours thingy as estone said it is small and moves into weird and wonderful places!

Try having a bath when you feel anxious as they tend to enjoy the water or a nice cold drink laying down.

My baby hardly ever moved. And I would have been up at the hospital constantly. I brought myself a Doppler to put my mind at ease.

I would say daily but not regularly. Meaning, some days more than others. I am 36 weeks and my baby is still more active some days than others but I always feel movement enough to know he's in there and doing fine. I can also make him move if I so desire by pressing on my abdomen or drinking ice water or juice. You will likely go many hours sometimes without feeling something, especially as you become familiar with the movements and adjust to them-small distractions will easily overtake any movement you might have felt earlier because it was new. I don't know why your midwife you say that-I think perhaps you misunderstood her? The rule is that in two hours you should count 10 movements (kicks, swishes, pokes, rolls, etc) BUT this is indeed only necessary toward the end of your pregnancy to track (at my clinic it's after 36 weeks) and my midwife explained you shouldn't set yourself up for failure (picking a time when you know he's not usually active). Hope that helps.

It is normal, as the baby is only about a pound and not very big. Around 28-30 weeks, is when I noticed a pattern with each of my pregnancies. It sounds perfectly normal to me.
