Mommy--
toothbrush
toothpaste
soap, shampoo
hairbrush
chapstick
glasses/contacts
slippers
Comfortable PJs/Robe (post delivery) I hate the hospital gowns
Grandma underwear so it's high enough and won't irritate stitches if you have a C/S. Hospital give you these paper undies...I don't like them
Sanitary napkins--I used the hopsital ones initially, but you bleed a lot and I like the ones with wings better
A pair of clothes to wear home
Ipad, camera or book

Baby--
Outfit to go home in--including socks and hat
Car seat

You should also bring a pillow & ChapStick. Your lips get so dry during labor! The hospital provides pretty much everything for baby: diapers, wipes, pacifiers, bottles, formula, breast pumps, etc. They will have your post partum underwear for bleeding. Basically, all you really need are a few toiletries, PJs, outfit for baby, & a car seat. The rest is up to personal preference.

Clothes for yourself, outfit for baby, snacks and toiletries. The hospital should provide diapers and anything else you will need for the baby while you are there. They will also have a breastpump if you need one right away.

Thank you so much. All the lists I've read I've ended up generating a list that is a mile long and I' m thinking to myself is some of this really necessary.

I'd rather just get stuff for baby over myself, but do want to be comfortable with the essentials.

Thanks x

Also nappies, baby wipes, breast pads, sanitary towels and im not sure what your hospital policy is if your not breast feeding as we have to take our own bottles and milk (they supply the steriliser).

I wouldn't have been comfortable without my own robe and slippers postpartum. Honestly, you could go to the hospital with nothing (except a car seat...our hospital doesn't let people leave without it, but I imagine that is based on location also) and still be fine.

I recommend toiletries, clothes for yourself, camera, an outfit for baby, a blanket and a car seat. Anything past that is option in my opinion.
