Q: Is bleeding during pregnancy a bad sign?

I started bleeding yesterday. At first, it was a light pink sort of spotting. Also slightly brown. When I woke up this morning, I had very bright blood, very red. I am 6 weeks today and scared to death. Has anyone else had this same sort of issue and still carried a viable pregnancy? I talk to my doctor about it yesterday when the blood was still pink and slightly brown and she advised that there was no issue. But with the blood being very bright red today, it's causing concern for me. I did not have sex to prompt the bleeding nor do I have any cramping to follow the bleeding. Please help me understand if this is normal. I am scared to death of what is to come.

If it wasn't that much, that is hopefully a good sign. You still need to ask about rhogam if you are a negative blood type and the father is positive though since you are having active bleeding.

Not to be vulgar, but when I went to the bath room this morning, there was only one wipe worth of blood. I have continued to check throughtout this morning but I have not seen anymore. In doing some research online, they said that bleeding is still considered "ok" if there is not enought to fill a pad and I did not have that much. But I also read that 20%-30% of women bleed during pregnancy and 50% of those women miscarry. Maybe I should not be looking online for this information but I did not know what else to do. I called my doctor but she was with patients and I have to wait for a call back. I am soooo scared and don't know what to do. I don't want to loose my baby :( and the tears start to form as I think about my potential loss. What can the doctors do to be able to tell if I will miscarry or if my baby will be healthy?
