Q: Is this a second gestational sac?

For some history. I know exactly when I ovulated, I then got a BFP at 7DPO, and had Beta hCG's done at 19DPO (1726) and 21DPO (3900).

I had a scan yesterday at 6+2wks which started as an external scan, we saw two blobs so switched to internet. Again I'm sure I saw two sacs, but the tech had a quick look and said only one heartbeat and no "friends" in there. She also said no bleeds or cysts... So what's this second dark area right up close to my baby's sac?

She very, VERY specifically said there were NO bleeds present though. So I really don't think it is a SCH. I've had them in previous pregnancies (this is baby #8) too.

Thats how my subchorionic hematoma (SCH) looked on my scans. That is a bleed. I would request another scan and a more knowledgeable tech. If you go to my ultrasound photos, I have one of my SCH early on in my pregnancy. Early detection of a SCH is imperative to keep your baby safe and sound in there. I am not saying 100% thats what it is....but I had 20+ scans during my pregnancy so, I can spot a SCH pretty easily.

It might be another sac and a possibility that a second twin is a few days behind the other. 6 weeks is early. I would get another scan in a couple weeks, as you will be able to see much more.

Could it be a vanishing twin?

Sadly not as it was just a pleasure scan... :/ She just left me in limbo with a truck load of questions! LOL I've emailed them to ask but I think I'm going to go for a second scan.

I would get another scan just to make sure then, it's a bit crappy if it is a 2nd sac and she hasn't told you about it though, I thought she would have to mention it, gd luck x
