I went on my leave in early September 2012 and was able to include my Dec 2011 bonus on my application which helped bring up my mat pay to the max available.

Check with your work's HR person/department and/or have a look at the employee handbook if there is one - it should outline who is eligible for what and how much.

Do you live in Canada? I can tell you when you apply for your maternity benefits you are asked to give your BEST 14 weeks of pay in the last 52 weeks. So you should still have a decent mat leave pay even if you drop back to part time at the end.

Just looked and I see you live in the U.S. Guess everything I just told you is irrelevant. Call your government that handles maternity leave and ask them directly. This question isn't suited for your HR dept at your work.
