Q: Gestational Diabetes

Anyone else get diagnosed with Gestational Diabetes?? What extra tests does this mean and how bad was the diet?? I have PCOS so already knew this was a possibility so already watching my food etc but got news today I failed 3 hour koladex test and now have to go through specialist etc. We already had some craziness with our baby first trimester so now I'm skeptical for rest. Baby measures perfect and heart rate is great too and have only gained 8lbs at 29 weeks so I didn't think was doing too bad.

I don't have to use insulin thankfullybut ot sure how often will ahve to test etc, my appt is soon with diabetic class so I gues will find out more. I have never been a huge fan of chips and french fries but ha ha just my luck when I finally start to enjoy them I can't eat them. I have pretty much been drinking water anyhow and veggies will be the worst thing since most of them taste like dirt to me at the moment. Thanks for the info!

I had gestional diabetes with my daughter. It is not fun, but its not the worst thing possible. It depends on how severe the diabetes is. I didn't have to go on insulin, but I had to prick myself and test my bloodsugar 4 times a day and go to the diabetes center once a month. The diet was not horrible either and actually helped keep the weight off! Mostly you will have to stop alot of carbs and sugar. Drinking mostly water, eating things like wheat toast with peanut butter, hard boiled eggs, veggies, meat, careful on the fruit b/c even the natural sugar is bad. I hope all goes well for you!
