Q: Never ending Work Debacle

Need some advice! This is my first job in America. I was originally planning to work up to a few weeks before my due date & then leave as I don't get any FMLA, or paid time off (plus I really dislike my job) Now my manager is emailing me asking me to draft a letter to HR requesting how much unpaid time off I want to take for the birth. WHAT DO I DO?! I need to job to save money so I can take a year off to spend with the baby. I don't want to request their pathetic 3 weeks leave and then pretend to return. It stresses me out so much thinking about all of this every day and the pressure they keep putting on me to decide.

At least im not wasting my time making multiple accounts on here, pretending to be more than one person and attacking people when they say something I don't want to hear! And yes you do have multiple accounts. A little google search for amylousiematacznski sure gives a lot of information! AKA littlebones! And this, right here is why you can't take the voting part of your answers to questions seriously on here ladies!

Are you past your probation period? If so they can't fire you without a good reason. Being pregnant is not a good reason.

If I explain now that I want to resign later on they will just fire me and hire someone new, which is why i wanted to wait so I could save up until then. I have done quite a lot of research on this, but they unfortunately do not offer a substantial amount of unpaid leave plus the position is incredibly stressful and there have been a few harassment issues since I had announced my pregnancy which is why I wanted to leave altogether.

Don't you have some strenuous lifting to do rather than keep commenting irrelevant nonsense on here?

Well... it kind of sounds like you have decided what you want to do. Is there a reason why you can't explain to your boss that you intend to resign and then let them know when your last day will be? Or that you plan on taking one year of unpaid leave when the baby comes and ask if they would consider holding a position for you when you return? Have you done any research into your company's policies on unpaid leave? Or your state's laws about this?

Apparently lifting heavy boxes & walking for an hour across town to pick up a folder is perfectly normal for pregnant women....or so they seem to think.

Well you failed to mention that or what your doctor has to say about it. But you can't be mad at your employer for expecting you to do your job!
