Q: When am I supposed to start counting weight gain i.e. what is zero?

I lost 9 lbs during the first trimester; since then I've put on like 18 lbs. I was overweight before so only supposed to be aiming for a weight gain of about 20 lbs. Have I now put on 18 lbs, or do I start from my starting weight, so I've only put on 9 lbs overall???

Thanks, that's helpful. I've got 12 weeks left and I guess that means another 11 lbs to go so I'm pretty much on track, phew!

I use my starting weight too. I lost 8 lbs in the first trimester and have since gained 9 - so I'm 1 lb up from my starting weight. :)

Start from your pre-pregnancy weight right before you got pregnant.
