I have already gained 3 pounds and I am only 6 weeks pregnant! Due to m=nausea all my healthy food has went out the door and I am so tired so it is extremely hard to exercise. What do you do to keep your weight down and if you are past and how much weight did you gain your first trimester?

Check your blood sugar levels four or more times a day.
Do urine tests that check for ketones, which mean that your diabetes is not under control
Eat a healthy diet that’s in line with your doctor’s recommendations
Make exercise a habit
Your doctor will track how much weight you gain and let you know if you need to take insulin or other medicine for your gestational diabetes.

Gaining too much weight during pregnancy can increase your baby's risk of health problems, such as being born significantly larger than average (fetal macrosomia), and complications at birth, such as the baby's shoulder becoming stuck after the head is delivered (shoulder dystocia). Excessive weight gain during pregnancy can also increase your risk of postpartum weight retention. If you start out at a healthy or normal weight, you need to gain only about 1 to 4 pounds (0.5 to 1.8 kilograms) in the first few months of pregnancy. You can do this by eating a healthy diet — no extra calories are necessary.

Also, around the time you are, I gained weight in my boobs and had to buy a new bra - two sizes bigger. So there's a lot going on. Don't worry too much, so long as you are eating sensibly and managing some (pregnancy-safe) exercise. Once you reach the second trimester, you can consider adding in some core strengthening exercises. I've had back pain and it's helping me. Plus it's supposed to make pregnancy, labour and recovery easier. Look online and see what there is that is safe for pregnancy.

First trimester, I gained 5 pounds. I'm in normal range. I'm in the second trimester now and have somehow gained 3 pounds in a week. I'm now 17 weeks and gained 10 pounds so far. It's a bit alarming how quickly weight gain can happen. It's certainly not a steady, even gain. Some weeks I've stayed the same.

My first pregnancy I gained about 15 pounds in my first trimester. I can't tell you how many people swore that the doctors were all wrong because clearly I was much farther along than they thought. Turns out, it was mostly water weight (okay, there was some fat too). But I didn't gain a pound during my second trimester. My doc just shrugged it off saying my overall weight gain was right where it needed to be, I didn't get diabetes or crazy blood pressure issues, and the baby was healthy, so who cares. First trimester is a crazy time, you just gotta do what you can to get through it.

My first trimester I did not gain any weight. Which was surprising because I was constantly eating especially crackers. I was so nauseas every second of the day. The only time I was not nauseas was when I had food in my mouth.

By my 4th month I started to look bloated but it wasnt until Month 6 that you can actually tell I was pregnant.

I also didnt start gaining weight until my 2nd trimester, and a lot of weight at that even though it doesnt look like it. At 38 weeks is now where my weight gain is starting to slow down.

Just try the best you can, it gets better. & Walk a lot, try at least an hour a day.

I'd gained 3 pounds by my 9w5d appointment with my OB. I said something about how I'd really been struggling to eat healthy like I normally do because the only thing I've been able to get down and keep down were things like pancakes, bacon, peach cobbler, hashbrowns, and other foods that are just really terrible for you. My OB said to just do the best I can to eat healthy but to keep in mind that the "first trimester is really about survival. You do what you have to do to get through it. And make healthy food choices when you can even if that isn't till the second trimester."

So on days when the nausea and food aversions weren't as bad I'd try to eat healthy. I tried to add some healthy snacks here and there when I could. And otherwise I did what I had to do to get through the 1st trimester.

If you can make yourself keep up with regular exercise that helps also. Even if you're just taking a walk everyday that's better than nothing and helps with weight gain.
