Andrew Paul 's Birth Story

VBAC! Contractions began 4a-7a dec 30 (38+6) Woke up w period cramps. I used Tylenol and slept. They were 12m apart. Minor bloody show that am. Rest of day felt fine and tried to stay distracted from my curiosity. Day 2 woke up w/them and they lasted 2a-8a w/good consistency, 10m. After that I stalled again. I tried to stay either at rest to conserve or to walk to trigger action. I had super irregular contractions all day. Never getting closer just stronger. called hospital for advice and decided to wait longer. More bloody show. Got in tub for 2hr as the hot water made me cramp. I finally decided after a really bad contraction on birth ball that I was going to hospital. Felt like I was making a mistake affecting my 3yr old and hubby for the night but I needed guidance. We arrived 7p. Was still 25m apart yet somehow 5cm so admitted. Best news ever. from that point I progressed quickly. It felt no different from the urge to poop so I literally labored on the toilet 7-11p. I could not leave bathroom. At midnight I was 8cm. I got epi and it sucked to have to leave my toilet comfort. Lol. I felt a lot better obviously BUT i got shaky and full of nerves since birth was coming soon. 2a ready to push. So much pressur. 39m later baby was here. 3rd deg tear. Then my placenta wouldn’t dislodge. Dr had to dig it out of my uterus and I almost ended up in surgery. Blood pressure dipped and had to get oxygen. Lost alot of blood. His sis is amazing w him and my heart is fuller than I ever thought possible. Note: I labored on pitocin first pregnancy and contractions way worse on p.
