4 weeks old!

I literally can not believe that Bear is already 4 weeks old! He isn't supposed to even be here for another 2 weeks and yet here he is already a month old! We ended up spending a total of 16 days in the NICU that were the hardest but most rewarding days of my life. There were times when I thought we would never get to leave and I would just sit there and cry as I held him, but we finally were released 2 weeks ago on wednesday. He decided he wanted to eat from a bottle every feeding and that was all that it took to get us discharged. I made some awesome friends of other parents that were there with their babies and I also really enjoyed the company of MOST of the nurses (with the exception of 2 :P) His pneumonia is all cleared up although we still had to come home on oxygen which was less then ideal but I'd rather he be on it and not have to worry about him then to take it off too early.

I have dealt with some mild PPD and anxiety, nothing that I can't personally handle but I definitely think him being in the NICU for so long made it harder for me to bond with him in those first weeks especially since i was only allowed to hold him for 30 minutes at a time because he was jaundice and needed as much light exposure as possible during that first week. Plus that first week home was the most life changing week I have ever had trying to learn how to become a mom and do it mostly by myself right away since my husband had to go back to work immediately. But anyway so far so good. :) Luckily I have had no issue with my milk supply and although we are currently having latch issues, Bear is thankfully on breast milk exclusively through a bottle because Ive been able to just keep pumping. This entire journey from start to finish has been everything and nothing like I ever expected but I feel so lucky to finally be here on the other side and to get to fantasize about everything He will be in life :) DH and I are already excited to add another one soon ;P but not TOO soon :) Included is a newborn photo of him that the hospital took on the day of discharge :)

What a cutie pie!!! He looks like he's already a pro when dealing with the paparazzi... ;-)
