Weight Gain for the first time in the whole pregnancy (34w 5d)

So yesterday I had a routine check up with the midwife. I gained 5lbs in two weeks! I was so upset. Especially since I've been more active over the past week than I have in months. The midwife (who is not the usual midwife I see but, I really liked) said that it was alright since this is my first weight gain in the entire pregnancy. She explained that women in my weight range usually don't gain anymore than 7 or 8 lbs at this point and that a 5lbs weight gain at 8 months was fine.

She and I also talked about the edema. She explained that the warming weather aids in the swelling. She said that when I'm done walking or exercising, I should drink 16-32oz of water and prop my feet up. She mentioned to keep in mind to have my diet consist of mainly organic fruits and vegetables. She says that most veggies are a natural diuretic, and will help with the water retention.

Also, the baby is measuring a little small. I'm 34w 5d and he was measuring at about 33w. She ordered an ultrasound for next week to see his exact growth. She told me to keep track of my kick counts, to make sure he's not slowing in movement. She said that if she had to guess, he weighs about 5lbs right now and will be born on the small side of average.

Overall, the baby seems healthy. I have to admit, I'm getting anxious to meet my baby and get labor and delivery over with. Only 2-5 more weeks to go!
