A little more reassurance

That "irregular" sack comment has been haunting me all weekend, so I called my doctor's office this morning to get a little elaboration on what that meant. She looked at the ultrasound and said that the irregularity wasn't the shape (which is nice and round, evidently), but the fact that it was measuring a week behind based on my LMP... which is frustrating because I must have explained to 8437023874 different people in this whole process that I don't have a "regular" cycle, I have one that ranges from 28-38 days. I also explained that I'm fairly confident (because of the opks and ewcm) that I ovulated around cd 20/21, not cd 14, so that explains the week difference!

I don't know why they even use LMP if you tell them that you don't have a standard 28 day cycle. I think next time we decide to have a baby I'm just going to tell them I don't know when my last period was, I'm so tired of arguing with them over the length of my cycle and the anxiety it induces when I don't fit into their little square box!

Leaves me feeling much more hopeful for Wednesday morning, positive thoughts!

I totally agree that using the 28 day cycle and LMP is ridiculous. They scheduled my first appointment for 10 weeks since LMP, and were totally surprised that the baby was measuring 8 weeks. I was kinda hoping 9 weeks, but wasn't too shocked. When you don't get a BFP until CD39, comparing with a 28 day cycle just doesn't make sense.

I'm so glad you called! That makes a huge difference! I think using LMP is worthless. Especially when the patient is confident of when they ovulated and knows they don't have a 28 day cycle.

That IS very reassuring!!!! Whew, so happy to hear that :-) it is very frustrating that she would have said it looked irregular just because it was a week behind what was "expected." They don't realize what comments like that mean to women who have issues :-/ but glad everything makes sense now!!

That does sound a little reassuring =) I agree it doesn't make much sense to use LMP when you tell them you don't have a "regular" 28 day cycle.
