Morning (All Day) Sickness Continues
By Sailorswife » Posted Aug. 7, 2015 10:28pm - 401 views - 6 comments

So here I am going on three weeks of 24 hr a day gag reflex filled days. The worst times being first thing in the morning for about an hour, and for about fours hours every evening. I can't believe this, neither of my other two pregnancies were like this, and I'm only carrying one child, so what gives? I'm able to eat more now than I was last week, but still not eating super healthy, mainly grains (which my 80% Paleo trained system isn't liking). At my doctor's appointment his week, I asked what I could do to ease the gagging and potential vomiting. She said to take Papaya Enzymes, B6, and anything ginger. So I went out and bought ginger brew (real ginger ale), but the bubbles kept bringing up my stomach acids and causing me heart burn. I found ginger chews at Whole Foods, but those were yucky. Finally, trying to find B6 Lollipops, I came across something called Preggie Pop Drops on Amazon and quickly ordered them. They won't be delivered until Tuesday. My family and I went to get something to eat this evening when I started to feel crappy again, so I got on my phone and started searching for B6 or Preggie Pops locally. I didn't find them at any of the health food stores, but finally called a Babies R Us and they had the Preggie Pops. So that's where we headed, and that's where they were. Thank you Lord! I grabbed the kind I wanted (the have lollies, drops, and chews) and begin to walk around with the kids letting them walk around the toy sections. Then it hit again, I thought "Oh no! I'm going to gag in the middle of this aisle and possibly puke in the store!" I b-lined for checkout, and paid for those drops as quick as I could and threw on in my mouth. In about 30 seconds the gag reflex relaxed, and the longer I had the drop in my mouth the better I felt. This evening in the shower, it happened again (So weird that showering makes me feel sick), so I yelled for my husband to grab me a drop again, and again it helped. So I don't know if it's in my head that these things are helping, or if they actually are, but if you're going through what I am, you might want to give them a try.

I had a similar hard candy, ginger flavored. They were Sea Band brand and they seemed to help me a lot when I was pregnant with Tim. This pregnancy, the nausea hasn't been too terrible and no vomiting due to pregnancy... guess I lucked out this time, but it also freaked me out bit with my lack of symptoms. I liked ginger lemon hot tea with sugar and milk in it and chamomile hot tea with sugar and milk added to that as well at night. My nausea this time seems to pop up in the evenings more than any other time for some reason and the chamomile really helps and tastes good with the sugar and milk added. But certain things still make me want to gag and I'm 16 weeks tomorrow!! Eating small amounts frequently seems to help also, but it has to be the right foods or it won't work lol. Sea Bands did wonders for me both pregnancies and during labor when labor pains made me feel sick. Hope it eases up for you soon !!

It's a little bitter, which is why I add honey to it. The taste is hard to describe. My husband described it as flat ginger ale.

Amanda I am right there with you! I am so ready to get back to a normal diet. Catts, I haven't tried ginger tea yet, it just doesn't sound good to me. How does it taste?

I might have to try there. I get nauseated but not vomiting, starts around lunch time and persists until bed time. Every day. Rarely felt bad with my son... It's awful. Ginger ale makes me burp and it's worse and I'm sick of only being able to eat starches because I'm already up four pounds.
