Crazy Emotional Trainwreck.
By SarahEMcCormick » Posted Aug. 3, 2015 3:44pm - 311 views - 6 comments

So, today I've been struggling with some serious emotional stuff - I know it's gotta be pregnancy related. I've been crying off and on all day, missing my husband like mad and when I couldn't reach him via text I went a little crazy and kept texting him off the hook. I don't usually act like this, so I feel foolish - but oh my gosh, what on earth could it be aside from hormones?

I'm feeling pretty crampy and experiencing round ligament pain pretty much every time I stand up today. Maybe at some point I will remember to stand slowly.

Maybe I should call the doctor for an early ultrasound, just to be sure the baby is where she/he should be. I know cramping is normal in early pregnancy, but I'm a bit concerned at it all seems focused (most of the time) on the left side of my lower pelvic area. I know one sided cramping can mean ectopic...I don't even want to think about it, but it's always a possibility.

Maybe that's what I should do - but I don't have any bleeding or spotting. Thoughts?

Anyone else at 5 weeks and feeling crazy and emotional? My poor husband...bless his heart for all he's gonna have to endure with me, the emotional trainwreck, over the next 8 months!

I hate to say this I experienced round ligament pain cramping throughout my entire pregnancy. It never went away, my son was always head down on my cervix and I had placenta previa during my pregnancy to which can cause cramping. My doctor said all was fine as long as it wasnt with bleeding. I definitley would say when the cramping begins try to take it easy and see when the cramping is worse, is it after a particuarly active day? But as always if something worries you call your doc

Does it feel like it could be near your ovary? I had an achy/crampy feeling forever in that area and read that it was normal as the ovaries in early pregnancy do a lot of the hormone work. It went away after 10 weeks and that's when my round ligament pain kicked in. I have heard that women who have been pregnant before so experience uterine stretching much earlier. I think making a call and asking to be checked out is definitely not a bad thing. the worst they can say is no and call us if it gets worse. Hopefully they don't dismiss you!

Mal - good advice. I think I just might if this keeps up. I suppose I will see how I feel tomorrow and go from there.

It doesn't hurt to ask for an early ultrasound just to our your mind at ease. I'm sure all is well though!

I'm glad everything turned out well for you! And thank you so much - I have been having round ligament pain aside from the cramping, but no spotting or anything so I hope it's just the normal everyday ongoings of the things taking place in there as they should. If it gets worse or (God forbid) spotting or bleeding starts, I will be calling my midwife. I'm not scheduled to see her until Aug 25th, when I will be just past the 8 week mark. Thank you for your response! xo

I had cramping on one side at the beginning. I went to the e.r. but I had also had some spotting. It was just round ligament pain they said. I hope that's all it is for you too.
