Q: What do you WISH you registered for that you ended up buying yourself?

I have pretty much completed my registries for my shower, but I was just wondering if there were any items that you ladies didn't think of and ended up buying yourself that you wish you would have registered for, possibly saving the money if someone else bought it for you. I feel like I've got a pretty solid registry, but it couldn't hurt to get some opinions!

Totally agree that diaper genie is pointless, and you never know if you will have a spit-upy baby or not, so tons of burp rags help. I found cutting up $1 thrift store tee's or old clothes I had was the easiest and most cost effective way to go, because they're already soft :)
Also, my family and I stocked up on sleep sacks (mostly used because they're crazy expensive new). I love them because until the baby is tall you can keep them intact, but then when baby "outgrows" them, or doesn't want their feet covered, like my little dude, you can just cut a hole at the bottom :)

Halo sleep sacks are amazing! Diaper genies are a waste of money. I never used mine with #1 & gave it away. I find size 1 diapers to be a useless size. Both of mine outgrew them before I finished the first box. My baby is almost 8 weeks old & I can barely get them around her chunky thighs even though she's still within the weight range (she's over 12 lbs now so she is also in the weight range for 2s). So, don't open a box until you know you'll use it. Wal Mart will do exchanges w/o a receipt. You'll need tons of bibs & burp clothes. Both of mine had reflux, so spit up is a way of life around here. Since they both had reflux, a bouncy seat was a MUST to prop them up after they ate. Could not live w/o it. And lots of onesies, esp since you're having a summer baby. It gets so hot in those car seats.

I'm in Canada, and the only place that you can do a registry is at Babies R Us, which is 3 hrs away from where I live :( BUT, I would've died without my sons swing, and his chair (Fisherprice Infant-to-Toddler Rocker). Make sure you have lots of receiving blankets (I found myself wiping spit up with them often because they were always close by) size one diapers, like Bostonmama said- my son was 9lbs3oz and was in one NB diaper from the delivery room and went right to size one. He also loved his playmat (make sure it's one with toys that hang above baby's head that they can look up at them).
I bought a snugli, and used it once (thankfully, I'd bought it online for 5.00). Found it hurt my back. I also found the diaper genie was useless. Once the baby is into size 2-3 diapers, it doesn't take long to fill the genie up. This is just my opinon- thought I'd share :)
