Q: Im against circumcision but my significant other desperately wants it. He saids its healthier..?

Im having twin fraternal boys. We are both overly excited. We agreed on names and etc but cant on circumcision!

He saids its healthier, prettier and if he has gfs later in life they might not want him because of the foreskin. He also saids if hes circumcised he wont get infections that much and etc.

Im just confused. I dont see a reason to cause unnecessary pain to my kids because itll look nice. If its not broken dont fix it is how i stand.

Anyone have uncircumcised or circumcised babies? Experiences with more infections due to having or not having it done? Any information would help.

Thank you.

From a health standpoint being circumcised its better for the reasons others have stated- cleanliness basically. If DH has a circ, he will probably struggle to teach your boys how to properly take care of their penis'. As a mom while they are too little you have to be willing to work the foreskin for cleaning purposes and so that as they grow it is easier to pull back for them when they are able to take care of their own body. Not to mention that if dad looks different it may raise questions or start the "I want to be like daddy".

Another argument is they can decide for themselves if they want the procedure when they are older- but most men are too afraid to get it done later so they live with it.

It hurts them to have it done, and it does kill nerve endings... but I bet your hubby is pretty dang sensitive- could you imagine it being more so?? talk about sensory overload.

I am Pro-circumcision.

It's more than appearances, it's also more hygienic. Leaving the foreskin on can increase risks for infection (UTIs, STDs, etc) and also sometimes i believe the foreskin can get "stuck" and not able to return to its normal place.

They will give them sugar water (or at least that's what they did for my son) before the procedure. It gives them a bit of a sugar rush and lessens the pain during the procedure (some doctors suggest the same for shots).

I remember being in the hospital and my brother telling me I shouldn't circumcise my son because it will kill so many nerve endings and make sex not as enjoyable as it could be. Yeah, that was fun to hear from my brother!!

But seriously, it's your decision to make with your significant other.

My friend didn't circumcise her son and she very much regrets it. He gets teased at school now. I also worked in a nursing home and have seen many nasty infections or the skin gets stuck back and it is really painful.
