As someone who is infertile and just lost a very wanted and hard fought for pregnancy, it makes me very angry to hear about anyone at all who chooses to drink or smoke when they know they are pregnant. You wouldn't put wine in a newborn's bottle, so why would you choose to feed it to your baby through the placenta?

I understand it's a personal choice and my opinion has no bearing on what you choose to do, but I really hope for the sake of that defenseless little life you are carrying that you choose not to drink anymore.

I wish you the best, because I wouldn't wish what I just went through on anyone.

With my 1st child, I only found out I was preggies at around 8 weeks (unplanned). We were at a music show 2 weeks prior to that (that would make me 6 wks) and we had LOTS of wine and sigarettes! I stressed about it, but everything turned out fine. Not all women find out that they are pregnant at 4 wks. I am now pregnant with my 2nd child, and found out at 4 wks. Since finding out, I haven't consumed any substances, and I started to spot at 6 weeks. My gynae just gave me some progesterone. Every pregnancy is different and you just never know. Two glasses of red at 6 weeks would not do any harm to your baby or should affect your pregnancy that much. The little bleeding you had was probably caused by something else. Good luck and enjoy your pregnancy :)

I personally believe that any amount of alcohol can have effects on a pregnancy, even if it is just thinning out the blood. I know that the first trimester is the most sensitive to any intake of substances. I think its good that you got advice before doing this, but also the medical community has many differing opinions on alcohol. Just like for years they've said that a glass of red wine is good for your heart but now they are discovering that it actually has the opposite effect and increases the chances of esophageal cancer. So I wouldn't always go along with what you hear. I am well studied in substance abuse as it is part of my degree and know alot about the effects of many substances on the human body, including for those who are sometimes drinkers. I would abstain during pregnancy for the health of you and your baby, or atleast would abstain until your past the first trimester which is a very important time for your babys development. This isnt meant to be judgemental in any way

I am assuming that the alcohol and the bleeding were not connected, to be honest. I have heard that 1 glass of wine occasionally is not going to cause any issues, although I have not had more than a sip just because I'm a nervous crazy person! I did however have bleeding at 7 weeks from a subchorionic hematoma. You can check with your doctor for a cervix check and ultrasound to see if there was any cause and if baby is okay.

WE all have our concerns about our OWN pregnancies..for some its alcohol..for some its..being around smoke..for some its..how many ciggs they consume..and for some of us..like myself its other things because I have made the choice not to do those things...That's my opinion.. Member_ I have run in to people who have tried to start yucky fights on here..just take it with a grain of salt. We are all here for support and like minds walking us through this. We dont have to agree with others decisions..but if us mommies dont stick together...it would be us against the world!! :) Positive or helpful responses mommies.. She asked..if we thought everything would be ok...not if we agreed with her decision...

I would say that I would go to the doctor and ask for an ultrasound...more or less because I have had 2 kids and have never bleed before. I do know that some mommies spot on and off throughout pregnancy though... Just go get checked out..you seem worried and it would ease your mind.:)

No I am not bleeding anymore, it was just that once when I went to the toilet...

Marisa, I had two glasses (half glasses) of red wine as it was a personal choice after gathering opinions of many (and my doctor) on Saturday that two glasses of red would be okay and can cause no harm to the baby. This site is not for judging people as Im sure your fully aware of that also.

Im thinking the red wine may of thinned out my blood ( as alchole does) and made me bleed a little as I had no implantation bleeding.... but just wandering as to why is was so red! There wasnt much at all but of course worth asking for. I am aprox 6 weeks along.

I'm wondering why you would drink 2 glasses of red wine? Did you know you were pregnant? Lots of women bleed in pregnancy and everything turns out fine. Drinking on the other hand is not good for your baby, which I'm sure your fully aware of.
