Q: when to have a baby shower?

My sister-in-law asked me this weekend if I would like my baby shower in september. I wasnt really expecting to be asked this question so soon since im not due til October. I get very weird about these types of events. My immediate family is small and my husbands family will mostly make up the shower. So it does make me feel a little awkward. When she said September all that came to my mind was stress... what if im too big and uncomfortable having to pee alot. Im 6wks now and already showing since I have a tilted forward uterus. late aug/sept children go back to school also and i dont want to interfer with that time for the extended family/friends either. Would it be wrong to ask to have it in the middle of the summer? Like end of july early aug? I just feel bad because we are bumbarded with birthdays at the end of july and all throughout aug. Any suggestions on what to tell my SIL?

Im due December 16th and we are planning ours for August 25th! Plan it for anytime your comfortable with. We are having ours early cuz we have over 40 ppl coming and dont wanna have everyone stuck in a house or rented out room when its chilly/cold out. having it in the summer means it can be outside on a nice day a cookout can be done and everyone can go swimming if you have a pool available. its pretty much whenever you feel like the time would be better

I had my shower 2 months before. It gave me time to get things home and washed without to much rushing. I highly suggest doing that.

You can have your shower anytime you want to and it is a good idea to have it in the summer then it gives you time to get what you need that you don't already have and you wont need to worry about not having the things for the baby that you need when they are there.

I'm due October 13, and my mom is planning my shower for the second week in August. I think it's totally reasonable to ask for a shower to be at a time when you will be comfortable and able to enjoy it. Good luck!

Typically the shower is 2 months before. If you aren't comfortable having it in September try to figure out a day that will work for you. It is your shower, so you should be comfortable while you are there.
