I'm from the UK and we all have baby showers :) ... maybe we just like being centre of attention and getting gifts!
I am still yet to have my first baby shower, but at my sisters baby shower we invited round female family and friends for cupcakes and champagne (juice for the pregnant ones) and had a gossip and a laugh. Everyone had brought a little gift for the baby with them so she opened all those and we all "cooed and awwed" at convenient moments at the tiny clothes. Basically there is no right or wrong way to have a baby shower, so do what you enjoy ! Why not go for a pamper with your girly mates if you aren't upto "entertaining" a crowd?
