Q: HCG is doubling but Progesterone decreased. Help!

Good morning! I'm currently 5w 3d pregnant with #2. I had my first set of levels taken at 4w 1d and my hcg was 68 and progesterone 13. My dr was fine with those numbers because I was early on and wanted to see me a week later to check them again. I had them checked this past Wed (7 days after first tests) and my hcg went up to 725 (doubled every two days) but my progesterone decreased to a 5! She prescribed me Progesterone pills to be taken vaginally and they are 200mg, twice a day. She will see me in aother week to check my levels. Has this happened to anybody else and if so, did the pills help or am I going to mc this baby? I've had no bleeding or cramping. Thanks

Hi there - Congrats on your hcg numbers doubling! I haven't personally had any issues with progesterone (but I also have to take clomid to conceive so that helps me in that area) but I know a LOT of people who have had problems and in many cases the pills helped...some of them swear by it. So I would definitely start taking them. I obviously can't promise that everything will be okay because I'm about as far away from being a doctor as possible, but I definitely think it's worth taking the pills. Good luck to you and keep us posted!
