Q: is it ok to tell people what you DON'T want...???

so I am making a registry (mainly for myself so i don't forget to purchase anything) but i was thinking is it ok to tell family members and friends things I don't want?
I really do not like anything disney or winnie the poo and i have a hatred for dungarees especially denim ones. So, in the event of people wasting money and "thinking" they are buying my baby nice clothes wouldn't it be nicer just to tell them my preferences???

I'd just tell your mom/sister etc. your taste preferences if asked to share this news. (honestly, I feel the same way you do!! That stuff is NOT my thing!) Otherwise, just smile and say thank you. The tags should be on there, and people usually give gift receipts (I hope!), so after writing them a grateful thank you note, just quietly return it for something you want/need. Or if it's someone you're close to, they should already know, or that outfit could be conveniently in the wash covered in spit up/milk if they come over and ask ;) LOL!

lol.... I'm a fashion designer and graphic designer so I think people will know my taste anyway, i just know someone will let the side down! plus I'm hormonal and I'm less than subtle at the moment! ;)

I think it's probably a touchy subject. This is my first time around, but I would think it's similiar to a wedding registry in that even with the registry, you'll still end up with stuff you don't necessarily need or want. You could tell a couple of people your preferences (the people in your life who others may ask for advice about what to get you) but I don't think you can come right out and say you don't want something (unless they specifically ask you about it). Just hope they give you gift receipts too so you can return anything you didn't want and set up your registry with enough specifics where they have a good idea of what your tastes are (and of course be grateful to any who give you a gift even if it's Winnie the Pooh) :-)
