Q: Topical Acne Treatments

So I keep reading allllll this information that I find and noticed that acne treatments keeps coming up. At first I thought it meant, like...serious acne treatments. But then I read something today that said to stay away from topical treatments as well. So I have this clearasil vanishing cream I use when a blemish pops up....stop using it? But facial cleansers are ok? Just wondering what everyone else was doing:-)
