Q: C- Section....

Okay.. I know I am going to get really mixed answers here but I want some input please..
I was told that I might need a C-section but now it is not medically required.
I have however prepared myself mentally for one and am now opting for an elective C-section.

When I told my doctor this, she did not say anything and it has been booked, but she was kind of "funny" about it..
Now I am confused again..
Is it really so bad opting for an ELECTIVE C-section...
Should I rather try for normal?? - (given anything can happen before the scheduled date though..)
I have read LOADS AND LOADS about both and am just confusing myself more.. :(

Please give me your thoughts, and if you have had either.. please let me know what you prefer and why.

I am scared with both.. but I feel the semi-organized manner of an elective C-section (Having a time and date) at least takes SOME of the anxiety out for me..

Thanks..!

Thanks to all for your input! It looks like the placenta might be in the way for a vaginal birth so for now the C section is going ahead as planned.
I have had an extremely painful surgery about 2 years ago and because of that I think I will be able to handle the C section.. this time I'll have my baby girl to keep my mind off the pain! .. I hope.. :)
Thanks again and good luvk to you all aswell!

Ihad a c-section with my son, my labour was not progressing and the doctor felt it was the best option considering my son was in distress during conteractions. I was scared to have the csection, but after 18 hours of hard labour and nothing to show for it I was greatful for the spinal and an end in sight. I am pregnanct with #2 and though I had the choice to have a repeat csection or vbac, I am going with the tried and true! i dont want to go through another tough labour and end up needing a csection anyway! I know I can handle the recovery, it was painful, but manageable with the T3's for 2 days and regular tylonol afterwards! One thing i have heard is to make sure you keep your hospital bed flat when sleeping, if you dont it will be more difficult sleeping flat @ home bcs your body is healing in a different position! I wish i had known that the first time! Also move as much as you can as soon as your given the ok! Helps blood flow and speeds healing! Good luck making your choice!

With my first i had a natural birth, and my second i had an elective c-section, as it was safer for my daughter with her health issues. This time I was told im going to have to have another one, as im not too happy because i dont like pain meds and surgery, it really wasnt bad as everyone scared me into thinking it was. I was on pain meds the first 2 days, after that I just had normal tylenol for a few days, I was up and walking around 4 days after c-section. it is painful, but honestly I dont feel it was as bad as i was told. some people said it took 6 weeks to start moving around, well my best advice is if you choose for the c section dont baby it too much. let your body heal but dont do nothing or else it will make it worse! good luck

Right now I cant even plan how I want my birth plan. Im being monitored for Pre Eclampisa, baby is already measuring big at 20 weeks. I want to do vaginal again because healing process is a lot faster. But the way Im headed, I may end up with a C section. Ive seen two personal stories to C sections that have me on edge, so Im hoping Dr can work with me having a vaginal.

With my son I had to have a c-section. The recovery period sucked for me, I was in the hospital for 4 days, without the pain medication I had a hard time getting around. If you do go ahead with the c-section ask to be glued instead of stapled, I didn't have to do anything like changing gaze/bandages and the scar looks nicer with the glue.
This time my doc said I could try for a vbac and I really want to try for it. I've been told by countless friends that's had vbacs that you feel closer to your baby after giving birth that way.

Good luck in whatever you decide.

This is my first baby so i haven't experienced labour yet, but i always thought i would opt for a c-section (pain ain't my thing). After doing research and thinking about the situation I am totally having a vaginal birth. Your body is "made" to give birth vaginally not to be cut open. There's a lot more risks involved in c-section birth and recovery time is a lot longer. I would only opt for c-section as a last resort if it becomes medically necessary. Good luck.

I think the worst was sitting down to pee, it felt like someone was putting a hot iron on my cut and turing around in bed AHHHHH But then again I opted to take as little pain killers as possible becuase I am very ANTY lol. I believe the healing for a Vaginal birth is soooo much quicker and you can actually function soooo much better... C-section a a MAJOR surgery as they cut through everything... I dont want to scare you thats not my intention. But in the end the only thing that matters is that our lil beautiful babys are healthy and happy no matter what the birthing out come is.. I am starting to make peace with the fact that my docor will not allow me to do a vbac but Im gonna chat to her again about it on the 16th :)

Hi hun, It really goes down to personal preference. Have you tried to discuss it in detail with your doctor? I really hope that there will be no horror story's shared but I guess unfortunatley they do happen. I had a stillbirth and being in the state of mind I was at that time I had a C-section. I know deep inside I made the right decision for myself as I think it would have been way to emotionaly scaring for me to do it naturally :( However I would have really really loved to have a vbac this time round but my doctor is against it seing as I had the C-section in September 2011. This baby is due November again. There are so many pro's and Con's when it comes to Natural and C-sectoin. Your doctor will know best. If the baby is to big or in breech which also happens often a lot of womens dreams of having a natural birth is shattered. From my own persoanl experience, The C-section was quick 20min and my little Angel was out. The pain however was rather strong but bearable and
