Q: Recommended Baby Books

While I tend to do most of my learning about everything pregnancy-related online, I was thinking of picking up a book or two on pregnancy, birth and the first year for when I'm not glued to my computer but want to do some reading. Any suggestions?

Caring for your Baby and Young Child Birth to age 5 by the American Academy of Pediatrics. I bought on Amazon. I used this book and still use to reference with my 3 year old, very helpful and informative

The mayo clinic guide to a healthy pregnancy. It was my favorite with the real info on what is happening to your body, good easy to follow medical info. I have a zillion books and this is the one I always come back to :D

Thanks, everyone for the great suggestions! I picked up "My Boys Can Swim!" for my DH two weeks ago and he just loves it - he's not a big reader, so he has really liked that it's got cartoons and information that he can take in while sitting on the toilet, LOL. Now, I'm feeling the need for some books for myself as I'm a big reader and also love research (that's why I'm a researcher I guess, LOL) :)

My only suggestions would be the What to Expect books. They have when your expecting, what to expect first year, second year, etc. These books are god sent.

I got "My pregnancy 2012" by Dr Joanna Girling and Pippa Nightingale, which is like my bible and it has a lot of "current" events in it so its so easy to relate to and feels very "now" if that makes sense as oppose to reading a pregnancy book that was written years ago as medical advances happen and change so quickly its nice to know what I'm reading is current.

I am a proper researcher and love looking online seeing whats happening every week and i have a multitude of pregnancy apps on my iphone, but you cannot beat picking up a book and reading :)

There's a few books that I have that are really great that I enjoy. One of my favorites is "The natural pregnancy book" by Aviva Romm, and then Ina May Gaskin has some great books like "Birthing from Within". And then if your looking for a more typical book on pregnancy "Pregnancy, Childbirth, and the Newborn" by Penny Simkin is a good choice. And as far as baby's go "The Baby Book" by Dr. William Sears is a really great one and covers from birth to the second year. I also have a book that's just called "I'm Pregnant" by Lesley Regan and I like it because it's a week to week guide and has some really neat pictures. Sorry I know that was alot...but I have alot of books. lol. Hope you find this helpful :)
